Anthropometrics as an aid to mental health diagnosis

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

I recently saw a patient who started Ritilin at age 6 and is now in his twenties and taking three psychiatric medications. He was diagnosed as having a mood disorder. Anthropometric measurements revealed that he was excessively andric and had other overactive glands, namely pituitary and thyroid. A better treatment in my opinion would be to correct the excessive andricity and the over active glands.

I saw another patient in his twenties who was taking 8 medications for depression. He was deficient in whole pituitary and this was not diagnosed or treated.

Anthropometric measurements will give a more accurate diagnosis and the chance for the best possible treatment and possibly no medications only glandular supplements.
